In addition to serving as senior editor for American Salon, Jolene Turner is responsible for spearheading the publication's digital media activities. Turner writes and researches topics related to hair and skincare, from new technological advancements to what salon owners are doing to make their businesses a success. Outside of work, Jolene volunteers for the NYC-based non-profit Anjellicle Cats Rescue and writes and performs comedy theater.
Martin Kaufmann Named General Manager Aveda North America
Just today Aveda has announced the appointment of Martin Kaufmann to the position of General Manager, Aveda North America. Kaufmann will lead the acceleration of Aveda’s growth in North America, with oversight of Aveda Retail and Institute Development, North America Salon/Spa Sales and Education, New Business and North America Applied Marketing teams.
“Martin’s leadership and industry expertise will further fuel Aveda’s momentum in the brand’s home market of North America,” says Dominique Conseil, President, Aveda. “He also comes to us with a strong passion for the brand’s mission.”
Kaufmann brings to the position more than 17 years of experience in the professional and consumer beauty industries, most recently with The Gillette Company. Kaufmann subsequently served as managing director for Procter & Gamble Professional Care North America. In this position he was responsible for all market operations related to Clairol Professional, Wella American Classics and Johnson Products.
Additionally, Kaufmann is a philanthropist who served as advisor to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, a non-profit organization that both empowers and enables people and institutions to plan, manage, conserve and use natural resources in a sustainable and equitable manner to achieve their objectives.
