In addition to serving as senior editor for American Salon, Jolene Turner is responsible for spearheading the publication's digital media activities. Turner writes and researches topics related to hair and skincare, from new technological advancements to what salon owners are doing to make their businesses a success. Outside of work, Jolene volunteers for the NYC-based non-profit Anjellicle Cats Rescue and writes and performs comedy theater.
Emiliani Expo; Runway V Honors Vidal Sassoon
This fall, beauty product distributor Emiliani Enterprises held its two-day 2012 Emiliani Beauty Expo at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, NJ. The event included Runway V, a special opening night tribute honoring legendary hairdresser Vidal Sassoon hosted by stylist and reality television personality Sharie Manon.
The tribute featured inspirational speeches from world-renowned hairdresser Tim Hartley and celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, as well as a runway show dedicated to Vidal’s iconic looks with styles by Hartley, original Vidal Sassoon team member Fernando Romero, Rocky Vitelli for Farouk, Ammon Carver and Daniel Roldan for Matrix, Phillip Wilson for ColorProof and Damien Carney for Joico.
The evening’s special guest, Sassoon’s son, Elan Sassoon, spoke candidly about his father’s legacy and accepted a donation of $14,500 from Emiliani Enterprises, Farouk Systems, Framesi, Joico, Matrix, Moroccanoil, Paul Mitchell, Sexy Hair and SHE by So.Cap. USA for the Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship program. The 2012 Emiliani Beauty Expo also included hands-on demonstrations, workshops and exhibitor displays showcasing innovative new products.
