Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 NYC: Marc by Marc Jacobs

At the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2014 presentation at Pier 57, Redken Creative Consultant Guido chose to create a hairstyle that was a little bit rock 'n' roll with a nighttime feel. "The look encompasses a grungy, cool girl style; however, she has a certain European sensibility to her," Guido said. "I felt the hair needed to be rock-and-roll chic, but in a nighttime way. Working with oil-based products and texturizers really helped to achieve that heavier, nighttime feel."

First, he applied Satinwear 02 to damp hair and then blow-dried strands straight, section by section. Next, he added Diamond Oil from the roots to ends to eliminate frizz. Using a large-barrel iron, he bent the hair to create movement in the mid-lengths. Finally, he applied Powder Refresh 01 from mid-lengths to the ends to add texture and weigh the hair down.

For makeup, Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page created a block of color on the eyes to contrast with the even skin tone he achieved using foundation and matte powder. Page combined a "soft and cool" blue with Limited Edition Eye Color Bar, applying electric blue Curaçao in a crescent, half-moon shape.

Nails by Elisa Ferri were kept short, clean and shiny, and were painted with clear Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer - Shiny to complement the different textures and finishes in the clothing.
