Mercedes-Benz Fall ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Alice + Olivia
Young and fresh, the primary look for Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet was a casually twisted bun with a soft center parting. Thomas Dunkin for Sebastian Professional created a “playful, pretty bun that’s not too grown-up” to go with the captivating fall 2011 collection. Dunkin started by using just his fingers to blow dry the hair that was dampened with water and prepped with Volupt Spray. Then, creating a soft center part, he sprayed Shine Define for a flexible hold before gently pulling back the sides into small twists secured with pins. Next, he pulled the hair into a large bun either in the center or slightly offset to the side and manipulated the updo to achieve a looser, larger bun. To finish, he secured the shape with pins and misted Trilliant for a natural hold. Short haired models got a tight, slick style with a deep side part and clean edges.
On the face, Polly Osmond for M.A.C created a “young, glamorous punk” look with an elongated eye with minimal winging using Blacktrack Fluidline and Haute and Naughty Lash mascara on the lashes. Osmond kept the finish matte with powder on the T-zone and a precise application of Runaway Red on the lips. —Clarissa Nebuya
