Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2011 NYC: Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano took inspiration from a number of different cultures when designing his latest collection, shown at the tents, now located at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, so Antoinette Beenders, lead hairstylist for Aveda, chose to create a "tribal bun" to complement the clothes. "It's got a multitude of textures and an elongated shape like a giraffe's neck, which makes it look very futuristic," she said. To get the look, Aveda stylists pulled the hair into a tight, high ponytail, leaving a top section of hair out, then sprayed the hair with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray and "painted" Brilliant Spray-On Shine onto the hair with a kabuki-style brush to add shine. Next they braided the ponytail and twisted it into a bun, then crimped the top section of hair using a micro-crimping iron. Finally they brushed out the crimping, pulled the hair over the bun, securing at the base, and fixed the look with more Control Force.

Polly Osmond, lead makeup artist for Victoria's Secret, created a "sensuous bedouin" look that featured a heavy, bright cheek and and brown shades around the eyes.
