Mercedes-Benz Spring '11 Fashion Week NYC: Jonathan Simkhai

At the Jonathan Simkhai presentation, shown at The Griffin in the Meatpacking District, lead hairstylist for TIGI Cesar Ramirez was creating two different looks: roughed up side ponies and buns, some of which were tied up with dishrags. To get the look, Ramirez prepped the hair with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Root Boost to add a little texture and grit to the hair. He then curled the hair using a 1-inch iron, set it, and created the side pony or updo, roughing up the hair a bit. Your Highness Shine Spray provided hold and shine for the finish."We took inspiration from Jonathan's collection," Ramirez said. "It has a '50s feel to it, and it's feminine but has some androgynous elements to it."

Victor Henao, lead makeup artist for Dex Cosmetics, created the makeup look, which featured a sheer take on the smoky eye using a khaki brown shade, a little liner, mascara, muted brows, a brown-toned cheek and concealer on the lips.
