Mercedes-Benz Spring ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Zang Toi
Zang Toi brought a Lone Star State of mind to Lincoln Center last night with his Spring 2011 collection of fringed pants, embellished evening gowns and hair that proves everything is bigger in Texas. Lead Hair for Moroccanoil Eiji Yamane, of Eiji Salon, styled voluminous wigs for each “Texas Rose” model and coordinated a quick mid-show change trading a wig for the cowboy hat on half of the models. Yamane prepped for the toppers by twisting and pinning all hair up and back using Moroccanoil Hydrating Cream, Treatment and Luminous Hairspray. He left face-framing sections out and curled them to mix with the wig for extra volume. Yamane teased each wig, curled with a medium barreled iron and spritzed Luminous Hairspray to coax the maximum volume. “The theme is Texas so it’s a lot of big hair,” he added, “It’s so much fun to get a lot of wave and movement.”
Rudy Miles, lead makeup for Amazing Cosmetics, created a fresh interpretation of the Texas big makeup look with dewy skin, full brows and a petal pink lip. “A finished complexion looks balanced and rested,” Miles said.
The models sauntered down the runway to a New York Fashion Week first that got the packed house clapping along in the Western spirit; the boisterous Big & Rich tune “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy).”
