Mercedes-Benz Spring '12 Fashion Week NYC: Elene Cassis

Lead hairstylist Amit Abraham for L'Oreal Professionnel was greatly inspired by the geometry and texture of the fabrics used in Elene Cassis' spring 2012 collection. "You don't usually see a lot of texture in spring and summer clothes, so I wanted to play with that in the hair," he said. Abraham decided to create a faux bob with a soft wave. To establish the texture, he sprayed sections of hair with Infinium 3 Hairspray and folded each section in tin foil. "The foil acts as a heat conductor," Abraham explained. Each strip of tin foil was then "crimped" with a 1" curling iron in a scalloped pattern. After the hair had set, the foil was removed and hair was gently brushed out and pinned into a bob (Abraham had created a small braid underneath all the waves to act as an anchor for the bob), allowing a few pieces to hang in front.

Lead makeup artist Miguel Collado for Bobbi Brown was also inspired by the architectural lines of the collection. He filled in the brows for a strong, defined arch and created a soft cat eye with black gel liner and shadow from the new Shimmer Brick in Rose Gold. He dusted the face with the Rose Gold palette for a bronzing effect and added a pop of healthy and fresh color on the cheeks with Peony. Lips were given a mixture of Beige Gold and Sunset. "It's a beautiful spring look that anyone can wear," Collado said.
