Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 NYC: Badgley Mischka

When designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka shared the inspiration for their spring 2013 Badgley Mischka collection—a 1930s version of A Midsummer Night's Dream—with lead hairstylist for Moroccanoil Peter Gray, Gray put his imagination to work and created an ethereal "forest nymph" look that featured crimped strands draped into a romantic updo to complement the clothing. To get the look, Gray prepped the hair with Moroccanoil's new Volumizing Mousse (launching in Oct.), blow-dried it and crimped it lightly, attaching small pieces of crimped and brushed-out extensions as needed. He then swept the fringe to the side and created a diagonal braid across the back of the head that served as a "shelf" and pinned ribbons of hair up, leaving loose tendrils around the face. Finally, he pinned in small flowers to embellish the look and sprayed with Luminous Hairspray Strong and Glimmer Shine Spray.

Tom Pecheux, key makeup artist for M.A.C, was also on hand backstage, where he created a look that featured a flawless complexion, a washed-out yellow shade on the eyes and a muted pink stain on the lips that he dabbed on with his fingers. A contemporary mauve shade called Modern Love from Deborah Lippmann embellished the nails on fingers and toes.
