Mercedes-Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week: Rebecca Taylor

The Spring 2013 collection from Rebecca Taylor is all about an ultra-cool polished beach girl with flowing dresses, jumpers and separates featuring intricate details, such as gemstones, and easy-on-the-eyes prints.

To create this girl for the hair, Aveda dream team Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzieri created long locks that were shiny, silky and with a wind-blown effect. Overall the look was of a girl that just got out of a convertible. "The collection of clothes is loose, so the hair didn't need to be perfect," Ryan said.

To achieve the look, the two used Aveda's Volumizing Tonic throughout the hair for control and volume, while the hair was first prepped with Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep. A flat-iron was used not to straighten the hair, but to add bends and movement. "It's always good to remember a flat iron can do so much more than just flatten the hair," said Ryan. "Use a flat-iron like a paint brush."

For the girls that didn't have much thickness, VoMor extensions, a new exclusive line of tape-in extensions exclusively for Aveda, were added to the hair.

With metallic reverberating throughout the collection, nail artist for M.A.C. Marian Newman painted fingernails with M.A.C.'s new Screaming Bright polish, a beautiful burnished gold .

M.A.C. lead makeup artist for the look Sil Bruinsma kept the skin matte and on the warmer side. The eyes were sultry and smudged using Teddy Kohl and Twinks shadow. The mascara was used to create natural lashes just slightly darkened and the lips were nude and natural.
