Mercedes-Benz Spring 2013 Fashion Week: Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano’s spring 2013 collection was inspired by a ballerina post-workout with glowing skin, a dewy complexion and a loose, slightly messy and wet ballerina bun on the top of her head.

To create this look, Lead Hairstylist Antoinette Beenders for Aveda used Pure Abundance Style Prep to give hair touchable texture than used Air Control Hairspray to set the hair. After having the model’s flip their hair upside down, she gathered the hair, twisted it into a bun shape and secured with an elastic and pins, finishing again with more Air Control to ensure the look held.

M.A.C’s lead artist Polly Osmond also used the ballerina inspiration to create a pretty, fresh face. She shaded around the face and into the hairline, creating some highlights but a matted T-zone, then used blush from the cheeks extending onto the lid and a highlighter on the lid and inner and outer corners of the eyes. She finished the eyes with brown mascara and topped off the entire face with a pale pink lip.

Co-founder of CND Jan Arnold was on hand to ensure the nails had just as much of an effect as the hair and makeup by creating a nail with a pale hue and a hint of sparkle. After applying a base coat, she painted on two coats of Grapefruit Sparkle, a pale pink that’s offset with a silver undertone, and finished the nail with the Air Dry top coat. —Aja Edwards
