What’s New at Cosmoprof North America

We chat with Daniela Ciocan, Marketing Director of CosmoProf North America (CPNA), about what attendees can look forward to at this year’s installment.

What are some of the new initiatives that attendees can expect at this year’s CPNA?
The new Beauty Innovation & Design Awards (BeautyID Awards) was created in association with Beauty Packaging Magazine to recognize creativity in packaging design, material and product formulation for all cosmetic product categories across professional, prestige and mass-market segments.

We’ve also launched several new areas that follow growing trends and meet demand. For example, the new DISCOVER GREEN LEAF special area features 10 pre-selected companies focused on professional spa, hospitality and specialty retail distribution, and the newly launched DISCOVER PRO BEAUTY is a co-branded initiative with Professional Beauty Association (PBA) that helps 10 pre-selected exhibitors meet with key distributors in the professional beauty market.

What are some of the other special show areas and what can attendees expect to learn there?
In addition to the two mentioned above, there’s DISCOVER SPOTLIGHT, an initiative within Discover Beauty that showcases companies big on creativity and smaller in size yet are a fit for high-end stores, boutiques, salons and spas; TONES OF BEAUTY, a showcase of brands dedicated to the multicultural consumer; DISCOVER GREEN, a section for brands committed to green, eco-friendly, clean, organic, and/or natural products; DISCOVER SCENT, exclusively for fragrance; and DISCOVER PACK, an area for first-time exhibitors exemplifying unique packaging and contract manufacturing solutions for those looking to produce private label brands or giftables.

What other attractions and events does CPNA offer?
There are a lot of quality educational programs to grow your business and networking with executives and beauty industry peers, which has become a strong attraction for professional salon owners and distributors. The Entrepreneur Academy also offers day-long workshops focused on running a beauty business. PBA has several unique events like the Business Forum with Magic Johnson and, of course, the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA).

Do you have a favorite CPNA moment?
Over the last 15 years there are too many to mention, but it never gets old seeing a brand go from making its debut at CPNA to becoming a household name. As organizers, we walk away with a true feeling of accomplishment knowing that we’ve helped so many brands set a foundation for success and touched so many people’s lives in a meaningful way.
