Crystal Vision

Ice Queens, a cool collection from Matrix artist Robert Santana, brings one last frost before spring.

For his latest collection, titled Ice Queens, Matrix artist Robert Santana turned to the crisp winter landscape as his muse. “The inspiration was drawn from ice and how it crystallizes when it sets on different objects or plants we see in the winter,” he says. The result: icy-hot looks like the one seen here with hints of frosty blue on lightened hair. —Corie Russell.

IMAGE ABOVE: For this pastel blue hue, Robert Santana used three formulas: Matrix Light Master with 20-volume Cream Developer; Logics Imprints V-SS with 10-volume Cream Developer; and Logics Primary Blue Concentrate with 10-volume Cream Developer. Santana double processed the hair to pale yellow, then created triangle subsections on the sides and top. From the mid-lengths to ends, he applied blue color using a side-brushing technique to avoid harsh lines.
