International Beauty Show Las Vegas 2017: The Main Stage Presentations

The thousands of eager stylists and beauty pros who attended 2017’s IBS Las Vegas June 24-26 really hit the jackpot. Of course, there were hundreds of booths to browse, but when it came to education, the Main Stage was the place to be.

The show proudly showcased 14 Main Stage presentations featuring top-notch cut, color and style techniques from some of the industry’s top artists and influencers. Special occasion hair was made accessible during Martin Parsons(@martinparsonsedu) presentation, “Moving Hair,” as well as during the demonstration from Ryan Teal (@ryan_teal), “Ryan TEAL and Friends,” which also demoed men’s and women’s cuts and color. Steven Lightfoot (@stevenlightfoothair) of Hattori Hanzo demystified dry cutting, while Hair Lab Detroit’s Lauren Moser (@laurenmmoser) and Rodrick Samuels (@rodricksamuels) recreated looks from their 2017 trend forecast, featuring men’s grooming and curly hair cutting.

On the color end of the spectrum, Ricardo Santiago (@stylistricardosantiago) and Cherry Petenbrink (@hairbycherryp) of Donna Bella Hair Extensions integrated the latest color trends coupled with extension advice, with Petenbrink offering up info on her color marbling technique, which she originally used on Effie’s wig during the first Hunger Games movie.

Pulp Riot’s presentation “Join the Riot,” led by Founder David Thurston (@davidbutterflyloft), brought down the house with models sporting the brand’s signature vibrant and pastel shades. Jay Olson (@jaywesleyolson) demoed the new Blonde AF lightener, which he says “will not flake or swell;” Kasey O’Hara (@hairbykaseyoh) illustrated rainbow roots—or as Thurston called them, “Kasey Roots”—with silver ends; and Iris Smith (@glamiris) created a smoky palette and then overlaid the new Neon Electric shades. Thurston then announced the Neon Electric 5000 contest. Simply tag your Instagram photos #neonelectric5000 for your chance to win $5,000!
