Dermalogica Academy hosted a grand opening celebration for the brand’s first undergraduate education facility with Step Up Women’s Network in New York City July 28. Actress Kelly Rutherford and Executive Director of Step Up Jenni Luke joined Jane Wurwand, founder and owner of Dermalogica, at the event where guests toured treatment rooms and tried the speed mapping skin analysis. “Dermalogica Academy represents the final piece that makes our brand, and its commitment to education, come full circle,” Wurwand says.

The 6,000-square-foot, LEED-certified location in Chelsea will train skin therapists with personalized hands-on teaching in the classroom, lab, MicroZone stations, Skin Bar and Treatment Room. “They learn best by doing, using their hands, and touching skin because that’s where their passion lies,” says Steven Frost, Dermalogica Academy director. Small class sizes, 12-student maximum, will allow students to complete New York State licensing requirements in less than 18 weeks.
