Education to GO

In its 80-plus years, the International Beauty Show in New York has gained a reputation for its stellar educational lineup. From razor cuts to high-lift color techniques, IBS New York delivers education that stylists need and want year after year. Not only do we bring the best-of-the-best platform artists, we also introduce new educators and address your specific needs. Here, a sample of last year's education questions and how you'll find answers in the classrooms at next year's show, held April 30 to May 2, 2006.

Q. I need to broaden my skills when it comes to textured hair.I want to be able to work with all clients, yet there don't seem to be many classes available in my area.

A. IBS New York 2006 will offer two new special classes on unlocking the key to working with highly textured hair. The first will be an overview of the trichology of textured hair, with demonstrations in both chemical and non-chemical straightening techniques. The second will be a hands-on session where you will get to work with and try different techniques on highly textured hair. If you've always wanted to work with textured hair and never had the opportunity, or if you just want to learn the latest techniques, don't miss these special classes.

Q. I find trade shows so inspiring, and I need some techniques that I can take back to the salon and use the next day.

A. We know how busy beauty pros can be. That's why, when it came time to rethink the educational lineup for IBS New York 2006, we knew each and every class had to offer serious take-away tips, techniques and education that attendees could put to use in their salons right away. The educators signing on now not only have years of experience, they are stylists and salon owners who, like you, work behind the chair with clients. They will be sharing their tips and offering their best advice for increasing profits, from quick add-on services to personalizing your cuts to the latest in color placement. Visit www.ibsnewyork.com as we bring you updates on the educational roster for the show.
