Mercedes-Benz Fall ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Erin Fetherston
Erin Fetherston’s signature style came through backstage at Milk Studios where Odile for TIGI invented a romantic chignon to go with the clothing line. “A very girly look is what Erin wanted, so we’re working with a lot of braids and baby hair,” Odile said. To start, she prepped the hair with Catwalk Curlesque Lightweight Mousse for texture before creating a clean, flat parting across the crown. She used the front section for a tight French braid across the top, pinning the end to the back of the head, and left the back section to form the chignon later. On a separate hair extension piece, she made a thick braid with intertwined gold and silver threads to fix on top of the existing braid. Then, she sprayed Bed Head Superstar Queen For A Day Thickening Spray before separating the remaining hair into three sections. Starting with the two sides, she wound up the hair with a comb and tucked it in to create the chignon. To finish, she used Catwalk Sleek Mystique Look-Lock Hairspray to secure the updo and to lift wisps of baby hair around the face.
Lucia Pica for M.A.C wanted an “ethereal, fairy tale-like look” with soft highlights for a dreamy finish. To achieve it, she used Face and Body Foundation, Shell Cream Color Base for highlighting, Pro Mixing Medium “Shine” for additional glossiness, lightened brows, eyes sculpted with Dark Brown Cream Color and a touch of 3D Gold Glitter under and around the socket. Lips had Process Magenta, Deep Purple and White Pro Paint Sticks to create a “flower blossoming effect” according to Pica.
Nails got a coat of Dashing Diva’s pretty shade of Picnic in the Park. “The clean, corally pink has an iridescent shimmer,” explained lead nail artist, Pattie Yankee. —Clarissa Nebuya
