As the new senior editor here at American Salon, today I got the chance to attend my first ever fashion show and I was beyond excited! I went behind-the-scenes of Rag & Bone with hair done by Redken Creative Consultant Guido and makeup by Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman.
Having just returned from Milan, Guido was in great spirits for his first New York City Fall 2012 show at Pier 57 for Rag & Bone. Guido and Gucci agreed the look for the Fall 2012 Rag & Bone woman was Patty Smyth meets India resulting in a sophisticated and cool downtown look.
Wanting to emphasize the natural hair with great texture, Guido kept the hair semi-wet for a look of faux dreadlocks with the use of lots of products, mainly two: Redken Full Frame Volumizing 07 Protective Mousse and Redken Roughpaste 12 Working Material, a thick styling paste that creates bold, ragged texture with non-stop separation. The hair came out cool, easy and sexy with a touch of toughness. To get the look, first the mousse is applied vigorously throughout the hair, then the hair is pinned to slightly dry; after, the paste is applied with hands to create clumps and to mat down the look with a slight lift to the crown.
The Revlon makeup creation was luminous with a rich, bold eye. Lots of contouring and highlights and pretty glossed nude lips offset eyes encased in Revlon's Liquid Liner in Blackest Black, Luxurious Color Eye Liner in black, and Gucci's Limited Edition Shadow Palette for Fall 2012. The very handsome Rag & Bone duo Marcus Wainwright and David Neville were all smiles.
