Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week: Naeem Khan
A high shine updo with a sleek side part vamped up the glam at Naeem Khan’s Fall/Winter 2014 show. Hairstylist Sally Hershberger for Sally Hershberger Professional Haircare created a clean, low chignon that was both delicately feminine and edgy, masculine. The front of the hair was combed back for a more boyish, men’s grooming look, and the oblong shape made the chignon look less like a ballerina bun and more three-dimensional.
To create this look, blow-dry hair until smooth and part hair to the side. Spray Major Body 3-in-1 Volumizing spray to dry hair in sections for texture and grip to hold the chignon. Brush into a tight ponytail and use a clear elastic to hold in place. Twist the ponytail end, wrap hair around itself to create a chignon and use bobby pins to keep it in place. Finish with Hyper Hydration Spray Serum with SMART Keratin for a shiny, polished look.
NARS Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer was inspired by the collection’s early cabaret and burlesque theme to create a deep red lip, defined brows, full lashes and luminous skin. He used NARSskin Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer, Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, Radiant Creamy Concealer and Loose Powder on the face to create a dewy texture to the skin. The full eyebrows were created with Matte Eyeshadow (shades Blondie, Bali or Coconut Grove depending on the models’ hair color) and the eyes were powdered with the Gold shade in Kauai Duo Eyeshadow. The beautiful, deep reds on the lips were created using Lanikai Velvet Lip Liner, Mirihi Island Beach Velvet Lip Liner, Marlene Audacious Lipstick, Jeanne Audacious Lipstick and Bette Audacious Lipstick, which will all be available in the fall 2014.
The nails were just as striking as the hair and makeup at Naeem Khan. Julie Kandalec for essie was inspired by the gold details in this collection to design red-carpet ready nails. She started by applying a coat of First Base Base Coat, then layering the more opaque Good As Gold with a coat of Shifting Power over it, which produced a warm, deep gold. She finished with Good To Go Top Coat for a long-lasting, shiny look.
