Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall '10 NYC: Sophie Théallet

A finished look at Sophie Théallet

Sophie Théallet, who recently won the CFDA/Vogue Fund award, partnered with Aveda for her fall '10 show, which had a country-girl-becomes-a-princess theme. To complement the look, lead stylist Antoinette Beenders, Aveda global creative director, created a sideswept wrapped ponytail. "The look is meant to be sensual, soft and sexy," she said. "It's all about volume." To get the look, Beenders used Aveda Volumizing Tonic Pure Abundance Hair Potion to create texture in the hair and rough it up a bit, then gently back-combed it. She then divided the hair into two sections, top and bottom, pulling the top section into a loose ponytail, leaving the fringe and front layers loose. Finally, she divided the bottom section into two more sections and twisted them over the ponytail, securing them on the left side, and holding the look with Control Force Hair Spray (due out in June).

Lead makeup artist for M.A.C Stephane Marais

The renowned Stephane Marais, lead makeup artist for M.A.C, was also on hand to create the makeup look, which he described as featuring "very sparkling eyes, like little fairies." Marais got the glowing effect on eyelids by using shimmering powders in gold and silver and lining the lashline with sheer gold liquid liner. A blend of creme blushes in Laid Back and Posy on cheeks and Amorous lipstick pressed onto the lips completed the look.
