Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 NYC: Badgley Mischka

At Badgley Mischka's show yesterday at Lincoln Center, lead stylist for Moroccanoil Peter Gray was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock blondes—particularly Tippi Hedren in The Birds—to create the braided updos that perfectly complemented the designers' glamorous gowns. To get the look, Gray prepped the hair with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse and new Protective Spray, then braided the back from the nape to the crown, leaving the top out. He then curled the top section toward the back using a 3/4-inch iron for the front and a 1-inch iron through the back, winding the curls around a comb to create a voluminous chignon shape at the top. He set the look with Luminous Hairspray Strong.

Tom Pecheaux, lead makeup artist for M.A.C, created an equally dramatic makeup look featuring baby blue, white and brown liner on the eyes; full, flirty lashes; and slightly diluted "milky" red lips. "It feels a bit technicolor from the 1950s," Pecheaux told me. Completing the beauty look, Deborah Lippmann painted nails with her new Red Silk Boxers polish, a "silk finish" nail lacquer (matte with a metallic sheen coming from underneath) that will be available for holiday 2013.
