Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 NYC: Rachel Roy

This year Designer Rachel Roy did something new and showcased her fall/winter 2013 collection online in a digital fashion show that was officially released on February 14.

Shot at the beginning of fashion week, Ted Gibson, owner of Ted Gibson Salons, and his team created the hair for the three models donning Roy's collection that showcases the theme of Opulence. "I wanted to create something very special," Gibson said. "So the idea of texture and the hair not being too overdone or contrived was important. I think this sexy wave really highlights the refined opulance of the clothes."

To achieve the look, Gibson first parted the hair with a middle part, then took small sections of hair and sprayed Build It Blow Drying Agent throughout each section from mid lengths to ends. Then he twisted each section into itself, holding them in place with pins to create about 10 twists. Next the hair was blow-dried, untwisted and braided it in thick braids for even more texture.

Once out of the braids, Gibson finished with Beautiful Hold Hairspray for staying power.

For the nails, Butter London Global Colour Ambassador Katie Hughes created a half moon manicure using Butter London’s Nail Lacquer in Tea with the Queen and La Moss.

Makeup Artist Bobbi Brown of Bobbie Brown Cosmetics, was on hand to finish off the look of refined opulence. "A copper, metallic 'panda-like' eye defined with brown liner steals the shows," Brown said. The rest of the face remained fresh and natural.
