Mercedes-Benz Spring ’12 Fashion Week NYC: Band of Outsiders
An urban oasis was created under The High Line in NYC, where the 2012 Band of Outsiders spring collection hit the runway. Didier Malige, lead hair stylist for Aveda, created two looks that were called the boy-girl look and the girl-girl look. The boy-girl style was inspired by Pennsylvania Amish boys. To create the style, Didier put hair into a loose chignon with whisps hanging in the front, with some of the models donning 'Amish hats.' Hair was set using Aveda's Air Control Hairspray. For the girl-girl look, hair was wavy and textured, but natural as if it was done at home. "Its not about a hairstyle its more abut a texture and a feeling, says Didier of the girl-girl style. Hair was first divided in half, twisted away from the face and set with Aveda's Brilliant Texturizing Gel to create the waves.
For the boy-girl look Dick Page, Artistic Director for Shiseido, used a cream eyeliner on the upper lash line and lower water line for eyes and chose to matte the lips without any color. He combed the lashes for the girl-girl look and used Shiseido's Temptress lipstick for a pop of color.
