Mercedes-Benz Spring '10 Fashion Week NYC: Teen Vogue "Best of Bleecker Street"

On Sept. 10, the first day of New York Fashion Week, Aveda joined with Vogue and New York City shoppers to celebrate the first-ever Fashion’s Night Out at two of its Manhattan locations. Fashion’s Night Out is a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion. Hundreds of retailers across New York’s five boroughs kept their doors open that evening to invite guests to enjoy a fun night of fashion, beauty and shopping. Along with complimentary hair styling and makeup applications, guests also enjoyed a special Teen Vogue “Best of Bleecker Street†Fashion Show featuring clothes from the hottest stores on Bleecker Street in Manhattan. Aveda’s Global Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders and Global Makeup Director, Rudy Miles conceptualized the looks for the show. I was backstage at the event and got to speak to both of them about how they achieved the look.

Beenders used an Aveda texturizing cream and Air Control hairspray to give the girls a "back to school, with a little attitude" look, complete with side ponytails and a single tight braid on the side of each girl's head. Miles created a polished, dewy look with Apricot Glow powder blush, Mango Juice lip gloss to add shine, Inner Light Moonstone on the eyes, and Mosscara on the lashes. Check out the final looks below:
