Mercedes-Benz Spring '11 Fashion Week NYC: Diesel

At Diesel's Black Gold show, held at Pier 92, Guido, creative consultant for Redken, created three looks: The boys and some of the girls got James Dean-inspired quiffs (an updo for girls), while the rest of the girls got teased low side ponytails tied with leather. "There are girls; there are boys; and then there are girls who are boys," Guido said jokingly. Using Redken Quick Dry 18 and Thickening Lotion 06, Guido created a buoyant, voluminous effect for all looks. "The clothes are basic so we could afford to give the hair more character," Guido added.

For the makeup look, "a little '50s, a little beach girl, a little California," lead makeup artist Lucia Peroni kept the focus mainly on the eyes, where she applied a thick line of dark brown cream eyeliner to the upper lash line and brown mascara, and brushed up the brows. Bronzer gave the skin a glowing, natural appearance and a nude lip finished the look.
