Neo Goth Color Reveal 1: The Lenore Look

To coincide with our August cover feature Dark Shadows, showcasing the new Neo Goth collection from Aveda, throughout the month we'll be revealing the color how-tos of the featured looks, and I'll talk about my own experience trying out Aveda's newly revamped Full Spectrum Protective Permanent Creme Hair Color. STEP 1 Starting below the recession point on the left side, take a semicircular section to 1" below and behind the point of distribution.

STEP 2 From the back point of the first subsection, take a semicircular section across the top back of the head to below the recession point on the other side. This creates panel 1.

STEP 3 From the back left corner, take another semicircular section down to the point below the recession on the right side. This creates panel 2. The bottom hair forms panel 3.

STEP 4 Apply formula 3 to panel 3, new growth to ends. Isolate with foil.

STEP 5 Apply formula 2 to panel 1, new growth to ends. Isolate with foil. Apply formula 1 to panel 2 (section at front left), new growth to ends. Isolate with foil.

STEP 6 Process the hair according to directions. Rinse the hair thoroughly with comfortably hot water to remove the color. Shampoo with color conserve shampoo, apply color conserve pHinish and rinse again with cool water. Towel-dry the hair well to prepare it for the botanical therapy hair treatment.

STEP 7 Apply a botanical therapy hair treatment based on the condition of the hair. For dry hair, perform the moisture treatment using dry remedy penetrating moisture. For damaged hair, perform the repair treatment using damage remedy penetrating protein. Once the hair treatment has been applied, process at room temperature for 5 minutes and rinse. You do not need to shampoo or condition the hair.
