STEP 1 Begin sectioning panel 3 by parting a semicircle parting from recession point to just behind the ear as shown. Repeat on opposite side of the head.

STEP 2 Connect the 2 partings together with a third semicircular parting that includes the point of distribution. This creates panel 3.

STEP 3 For control, subdivide the back of head with a vertical parting from panel 3 to the nape.

STEP 4 Complete panels 1 and 2 by creating a similar parting that mirrors panel 3 from behind each ear across the back of the head, scooping just under the occipital bone as shown.

STEP 5 Apply formula 1 to panel 1, new growth to ends. Isolate with foil.

STEP 6 Begin working around the head toward the center back. Starting at the front hairline, take diagonal subsections and alternate applying formula 2 and formula 3. Apply formula 1 in every fourth subsection. Isolate each section with foil.

STEP 7 Work around the head to the back center parting. Repeat on the other side.

STEP 8 Using the Aveda tipping technique and working in a herringbone pattern, apply formula 2 and formula 3 in foil
