Other Fashion Week Fun Around New York City

Along with the fashion shows happening in Bryant Park and around the city, Fashion Week also provides a great time to connect with other editors, meet talented stylists and artists and discover new products. Over the weekend, I attended the 2nd annual New York Fashion Week Media Mixer, organized by Lianne Farbes and Paul Baranda, which brought together beauty bloggers for a night of mingling and fun. The party was held at ION Studio in SoHo, where Stila makeup artists were onhand to give touchups. Among the evening's special guests were celebrity stylist Ted Gibson and renowned colorist Jason Backe. Aside from being two of my favorite people in the industry, Ted and Jason are also quite photogenic:

Throughout Fashion Week, I also stopped by Robert Verdi's Luxe Lab to see my friends from Phyto, who had organized a styling station with artists like Davide Torchio and John Gerard. While there, I also got a mini makeover from the talented makeup mavens from Jouer, a relatively new cosmetic company that allows users to create customized palettes of their effortless and easy-to-apply colors. Another great discovery was Ginger + Liz, a nail polish brand that debuted last year. I instantly fell in love with the vibrant colors in the line, which went on extremely smoothly thanks to 398-strand brushes and intense pigmentation. I got a fabulous manicure from nail diva Tracylee of Damone Roberts New York, who chatted with me about trends for Spring (blues, bright colors) and agreed with me that pure matte polishes should be a thing of the past (we're both still okay with satin finishes, though). After much deliberating between purples, grays and metallics, I decided to go with Hold The Drama, a deep eggplant color. Love it!
