Ted Gibson recently hosted The Ted Gibson Academy on April 15-16, a weekend where salon owners and stylists spent time with Gibson and other professionals who are dedicated to expanding their craft and learning new hair secrets and trends.
Twenty participants from around the county received hands on training from Gibson as well as from colorist Jason Backe. Students had two-days filled with educational demonstrations on cutting, coloring, and styling tips.
“Hands down the best experience from a class,” said Kimberly Sellers, a participant from Akron, Ohio’s Bessay Style Salon. “I feel renewed as a hair stylist and ready to try out new things in my salon.”
Because of the workshop’s success, plans are moving onward to conduct quarterly, two-day classes limited to 20 participants going forward. Also, Gibson and Backe will host a large-scale event of 200-300 people sometime in February 2013 where they will offer 2-3 days of education from main stage presentations, breakout rooms for hands-on learning and a charity evening event. —Aja Edwards
