Wendy Watkins Says: Adjust Your Focus!

“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.”   Brian Tracy

I love having a focal point in my life. Each year I set my sights on specific goals and intentions. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can lose my focus and get sidetracked from what is most important to me.  There are so many wonderful things to get involved in.  Some days, I don my Wonder Woman bracelets and think I can do it all. When overwhelm arrives and I remember that I cannot do it all, I take a few steps back and refocus.  Sound familiar? I integrated a structure into my life about 10 years ago which helps me to stay focused and accomplish more of my intentions.

I have a theme.  Themes are your quiet catalyst for change and a nudge in the right direction. Sometimes it may be the kick in the pants that you need! That is exactly what they are for me. It is a compass to stay in alignment with what is most important to me today.

My theme for 2011 is Expect the Best. Sometimes I worry things will not work out the way I want them to. Yes, even professional life coaches have their doubts. Doubts can get in the way of taking those baby steps, or sometimes giant steps forward. My theme helps me eradicate the doubt and worry.

Themes can also be a strong foundation for you to step into your greatness. This year, I am a contestant in the Next Top Self Help Author Contest [blatant plug here: Vote for me <http://www.tinyurl.com/wendywatkins>  to win a publishing contract for my upcoming book!].

What is your big gulp goal for the year? What will you do to support you in staying focused on what is most important to you? Don’t know? Start with finding your theme and weaving it into your life every day. Take the big gulp and deep breath and move towards living the life you love!
