Disco Inferno

In conjunction with the International Beauty Show, taking place in New York April 30–May 2, 2006, The Professional Beauty Association will host the PBA Beauty Ball and Charity Gala on Saturday, April 29, at the Marriott Marquis. This glittering evening will benefit the NCA Disaster Relief Fund/Katrina and Locks of Love Foundation. And Lee Rizzuto Jr., who in addition to being vice-chair of the PBA governing council and senior vice-president of the Conair Corporation, Global Professional Business Units, is also the Beauty Ball chairman and honoree, promises to bring his white, bell-bottom leisure suit out of the mothballs and host a disco party to rival anything Studio 54 could ever have staged.

"The 21st Annual Beauty Ball will take on a whole new feel," says Rizzuto. Along with the traditional silent auction and dinner, this year's event will also feature a disco party complete with great entertainers from the '70s, including Maxine Nightingale, France Joli, Musique and Martha Wash. If that's not temptation enough, celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich will be presiding over the menu. "Not only does a ticket get you into one of the biggest nights in the industry, but it also allows you to network with the beauty elite, with all funds raised going to two amazing charities," Rizzuto adds.

The NCA Disaster Relief Fund/Katrina benefits salon owners and beauty professionals, distributors, manufacturers, schools and students who are affected by ill health, bereavement or injury. Locks of Love Foundation provides hairpieces for financially disadvantaged students age 18 and younger who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
