Season of Change

Encourage color clients to make a bold move this fall and winter by opting for one of these hot shades that experts predict will be all the rage. ✂ —Nicole Altavilla

Platinum Hit

According to Tracey Cunningham, celebrity colorist and Redken creative consultant for color, blondes are expected to go lighter than ever this fall and winter. “Platinum is always in style, especially during the cooler months,” she says. “I love experimenting with different shades and tones on blondes and creating the perfect shade to match skin tones.” Cunningham uses Redken’s new Cool Control Color Gels and Color Fusion shades to achieve icy whites, sparkling silvers and pale pastels on her blonde clients. The new TIGI Copyright©olour Lift Series 100/88 shade can also be used to achieve pristine blonde results. redken.com; tigiprofessional.com

Bronzed Age

“Many of my brunette clients come into the salon wanting to lighten up their current color while keeping a natural look,” Cunningham says. She adds bronze and gold at the ends of the hair for subtle lightening without turning it brassy. “This is a great way to achieve a gorgeous, natural look for any brunette,” she says. The hue can be achieved by highlighting brunette hair with Zotos AgeBeautiful Anti-Aging Liqui-Crème Permanent in Raspberry Brown, a new color, for a warm bronze hue. A metallic brown can also be achieved using Wella Professionals’ new Koleston Perfect Innosense shades. zotos.com; wella.com

Violet Storm

Daring clients are sure to embrace the violet-colored hair trend, seen on many of this year’s fall and winter catwalks. “Hair fashion takes its cue from the world’s fashion runways,” says Mia Liguori McHugh, co-president of creative at Scruples. “For fall 2014, we see shades of red infused with purple, dusty mauves and lavenders, burgundy and rich merlots.” She recommends Scruples’ new True Integrity Opalescent Creme Color Blackberry Series to get the perfect violet. Purple is also one of the hottest colors achieved with new All-Nutrient Fashionizers shades. scrupleshaircare.com; allnutrient.com

Copper Top

“Rose golds and coppers are extremely popular right now and they look gorgeous on nearly all skin tones,” Cunningham says. “I can add golden hues if my client wants to go more rose gold, or I can add intense reds and coppers to achieve a rich red color.” Framesi Pure Red, part of the new Framcolor Glamour Pure Colors range, leaves hair looking bold and vibrant. Similarly, Matrix’s new Colorgraphics Lacquer can be applied to hair to create a vivid red and copper. matrix.com; framesiglamour.com
