Shelley Craft has been a licensed cosmetologist for 20 years, but has been passionate about hair for much longer. She gained her first clients as a young teen and attended cosmetology school while in high school. There she won several hair competitions and graduated at the top of her class. This was the beginning of a long term career.

She began working at Special Effects Hair Studio that she obtained ownership of in 2003. Shelley opened The Men’s Refinery BarberSpa 5 years later, both salons are in North Augusta, South Carolina.  She splits her time between the two working on male and female hair.

For her, opening The Men’s Refinery BarberSpa, was about being a part of change in her community and her industry. She recognized the need for men to have a place to feel comfortable to receive new services and expect top notch service. The Men’s Refinery offers not only great haircuts, but Massage, manicures, pedicures, facials and more. This business was a new idea for a bedroom community in North Augusta.

As an educator with the Wahl Clipper Company, Shelley’s desire is to encourage other stylist to consider the creativity that they can achieve with their clippers. As a cosmetologist, she has always enjoyed using different tools to match her client’s hair type and desired style.

Shelley’s motto is to first go after all that you can learn, step out of your comfort zone, and go after that new technique that can make you unique as a stylist. Your clients can get a haircut anywhere. Give them a reason to continue to frequent your chair.
