Letter J is for Jump On The Broom - The broom is a management tool and a marketing tool, not a housekeeping tool. Seriously. It is better as a manager to sweep than to have an assistant or receptionist do it. Sweeping puts you on the floor, between the chairs, amongst the clients and the cutters. It is a great way to gain powerful insight about what is going on in your business. I learned this a long time ago when working with a chain of shops. Close supervision was fundamental to the shops progress and success. There was no better way to manage well than form the broom.
