David Thurston on Personal Branding

I’m vulnerable. In a world where authenticity is scarce, I tell it how it is, without fear of losing out on opportunities. I believe that magic happens through collaborating with others. I’m an advocate for gender equality. I believe education is key. I thrive outside my comfort zone and endeavor to inspire others to step outside theirs. The beauty community excites me more than the beauty industry.

You all knew that though. Why? It’s because I’ve established my brand.

Do you know what your brand is?

Let me help…

1. Choose Your Brand: If I asked others who you are, what would you want them to say? Quickly… write it down… that’s your brand. If you want to be a strong brand, make sure your brand represents the true authentic you. If it doesn’t, change your brand, or change yourself.

2. Create a Brand Strategy: What pictures are you going to post and what words are you going to write to communicate what your brand is? Purposely post content that communicates, re-enforces, and strengthens your brand.

3. Broadcast Your Brand: Now broadcast your brand… how else are people going to know what your brand is. And in a sea of competing brands, if you followed my advice, then your brand is totally unique. It’s You, Inc.

Do you really want to boost your stylist or salon business on social media… then be more than someone who just posts hair photos… be a brand. -David at Butterfly Loft
