This Salon is a Parent's Paradise Thanks To Its On-Site Daycare

Chris Lane Salon Spa opened in February in Loveland, CO with a unique feature: an on-site daycare for clients’ kids aged 3 months to 12 years. Co-founders and hairstylists Briana Syracuse and Cori Thigpen spawned the idea years ago while working together in childcare at a gym.

“I have so many clients that bring their kids, and I’m always concerned about their safety,” Syracuse says. The daycare room has a separate entrance, its own bathroom and a half-locked door to prevent kids from entering the salon space. Pricing is $5 for one child, $8 for two and caps at $10 for three kids or more. The duo hired a few CPR-certified employees with experience in childcare to run the daycare.

Chris Lane’s success with daycare doesn’t come from the direct revenue of the service, it comes from an influx of new clients. For example, the salon throws spa-themed birthday parties for kids on Sundays, bringing in tons of parents. Syracuse says 10 new moms at one party pre-booked appointments after hearing about the daycare. “Even if we don’t profit from the childcare itself, we are bringing in so many clients that we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.”
