Color How-To: High-Contrast Balayage

High-contrast balayage, one of the latest trends to take over our Instagram feed, offers a refreshing take on some of our favorite winter shades. Though balayage is known for its subtlety, the contrast technique seamlessly blends polar-opposite tones for a more dramatic, dimensional shade. Cleveland-based stylist and Wella colorist Coryn Eyring (@corynneylon_hair) created a dreamy fall color with a combination of lowlights and foilyage. Here's how you can recreate the look:

  • Apply lowlights using Wella Color Touch 5/71.
  • Using the foilyage technique, apply 30 volume Wella Blondor
  • Process for 30 minutes. Wash and style as desired.
