Oribe Hits the Runway at NYFW: Men's

Following a string of men's wear shows in London, Paris, Milan and Florence, Italy, New York Fashion Week: Men's strolled through Manhattan earlier this week. Showcasing a collection of brands from all over the world, the men (and a few ladies) looked swanky from head to toe, but we just couldn't take our eyes off of their hair. Styled by Oribe Haircare and a talented group of Oribe Educators, the men hit the runway rocking everything from surfer-boy chic hairstyles to clean, middle parts with sleek waves. Here, the stylists give us step-by-steps for each of the runway styles:

Krammer + Stoudt S/S 2018

Hair by Christian Ceja-Compin using Oribe Hair Care

Up and coming brand, Bristol, showcased minimalistic designs set to muted colors. The designer’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection was an ode to his childhood and the comfort that clothes bring, especially when they inspire nostalgia. Oribe Educator Christian Ceja-Compin completed the look by styling hair that blended street-boy culture with the sleek style of old Hollywood legends, such as Clark Gable. Hair by Kien Hoang using Oribe Hair Care

David Hart took his audience on a “Holiday in Cuba” during his Spring/Summer 2018 presentation. Cuban cigars and straw Panama hats complemented the bold colors and tropical-patterned designs. Private Policy S/S 2018

Hair by Kien Hoang using Oribe Hair Care

Genderless brand, Private Policy, reinvented the typical idea of ordinary American life in their Spring/Summer 2018 presentation titled “Trinkets.” The brand contrasted Native American patterns with fabrics that evoked feelings of old Hollywood glamour. Although men’s shows typically opt for shorter hairstyles, Oribe Educator Kien Hoang wanted to embrace long hair on men. To do so he created 13 custom long-haired wigs—in chocolate brown, bright tangerine and ashy blonde—each cut, razored and styled differently.

Maiden Noir S/S 2018

Hair by Mandee Hernandez using Oribe Hair Care

Maiden Noir designer, Nin Truong, pulled inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2018 collection from British artist, David Hockney’s work after he moved to the U.S. at the time of The Vietnam War protests. Nin’s designs showcase a contrast between bright, 1960s-style clothes and darker, military-inspired pieces. Oribe Educator Mandee Hernandez styled hair in relaxed, long waves to complement the more colorful clothing. For those models who donned utilitarian pieces, Mandee went with a more structured look.
