Oribe Kicks Off NYFW With Jam-Packed Men's Day

Before New York Fashion Week officially got underway, Oribe's talented team of educators hosted the ultimate kickoff and sponsored 10 shows for this year's Men's Day. Here, get ahead of 2019's fall and winter trends with detailed step-by-steps for each of the runway looks. 

Sundae School F/W 2019 | Hair by Manny Rolon using Oribe Hair Care

Oribe Educator Manny Rolon took the lead on hair for Sundae School’s NYFW Men’s Day F/W19 collection. Striving to showcase hair in its purest form, the team highlighted the varying textures and added pops of bright colored chalk throughout to emulate flame.

Get the Look:

  1. Take Fiber Groom in finger tips and rake through hair to bring out pre-existing natural texture.
  2. Mold to the desired shape. 
  3. Color tips of hair with water-soluble hair chalk.

Krammer + Stoudt F/W 2019 | Hair by Louis Orozco using Oribe Hair Care

The Men’s Day F/W19 collection from Krammer + Stoudt was inspired by ’70s rock ‘n roll California from the Sunset Strip to Joshua Tree. To complement the Cali-vibe, Oribe Educator Louis Orozco kept the hair wild and wind-blown as if the model joined the presentation directly from the West Coast desert.

Get the Look:

  1. Prep hair with Foundation Mist
  2. Apply Matte Waves Texture Lotion for a little weight.
  3. Use a combination of Swept Up Volume Powder Spray and Dry Texturizing Spray to piece it out and again keep hair matte.
  4. Finish with a spritz of Gold Lust Dry Shampoo

Vasilis Loizides F/W 2019 | Hair by Dan Nguyen using Oribe Hair Care

Individuality and androgyny played major roles at the Vasilis Loizides F/W19 presentation. Oribe Educator Dan Nguyen pulled inspiration from the collection’s circus theme in order to create four different avant-garde styles.

Get the Looks:

Highly Textured Mohawks:

  1. Apply Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream throughout hair.
  2. Add Balm d’Or and Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray and mold hair to desired shape.

Sculpted Horns:

  1. Spray hair with Foundation Mist.
  2. Apply Sculpting Cream and Maximista Thickening Spray and sculpt hair into horn shapes.
  3. Finish with Dry Texturizing Spray.

Braids: 

  1. Spray hair with Foundation Mist.
  2. Apply Maximista Thickening Spray to plump strands.
  3. Add in wefts to extend hair below waist.
  4. Apply Sculpting Cream.
  5. Braid hair and secure at end.

Braid on Bald Head:

  1. Add weft at the base of the head.
  2. Braid extensions.
  3. Finish with Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray.

David Hart F/W 2019 | Hair by Kien Hoang using Oribe Hair Care

This season, David Hart played on French style in his F/W19 collection showcasing pieces meant to personify young Americans abroad in Paris. Oribe Director of Training & Content Kien Hoang keyed the show using ’90s pop boy bands as his inspiration. He styled the models into two different looks—perfectly polished curly textures and sleek-and-chic center parts.

Defined, Polished Curls:

  1. Spray Foundation Mist all over to awaken curls.
  2. Use Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste with a wooden pencil stick to shape and define curls.
  3. Shake curls while spraying Flash Form Finishing Spray Wax to set.
  4. Spray Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray to shape.

Sleek, Straight Strands:

  1. Spray Foundation Mist all over to awaken natural texture and find a center part.
  2. Apply Balm d’Or throughout.
  3. Blow-dry hair to make strands sleek and straight.
  4. Enhance movement with Flash Form Finishing Spray Wax.

Descendant of Thieves F/W 2019 | Hair by Christian Ceja-Compin using Oribe Hair Care

The Descendant of Thieves F/W19 show drew inspiration from the diversity found in neighborhoods around New York City where the importance and acceptance of individualism creates an open and judgement-free environment. Key stylist and Oribe Educator Christina Ceja-Compin modeled hair after a military look to keep hair clean and polished.

  3. Using fingers, define hair with Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste.

O.N.S F/W 2019v | Hair by Christian Ceja-Compin using Oribe Hair Care

Oribe Educator and key stylist Christian Ceja-Compin joined O.N.S to debut its F/W19 collection. The looks were inspired by aviation, altitude, structure and international airport terminals

  3. Apply Matte Waves Texture Lotion to define texture and let hair air dry.

Tanaka F/W 2019 | Hair by Manny Rolon using Oribe Hair Care

Oribe Educator Manny Rolon served as the key hairstylist at the Tanaka F/W19 show and used ’80s rock ‘n roll as inspiration. Pulling ideas from past Jon Bon Jovi and Cyndi Lauper looks, the team created styles that gave strong reference to music

  1. To prep, apply Curl Gloss Hydration & Hold to mid-section by sections and Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray to ends. 
  2. Twist each section into a ringlet. 
  3. Use a diffuser to dry hair.
  4. Rake through hair with fingers to create an undone, slept-in look.

Chan Chit Lo F/W 2019 | Hair by Kien Hoang using Oribe Hair Care

The Chan Chit Lo F/W19 collection was rich in varied cuts and textures and featured beautiful hues of orange and blue. Oribe Director of Training & Content Kien Hoang keyed the show, drawing inspiration from the spirit of fishermen’s work on the sea and styled models in a variety of looks to complement the individual’s clothing and hair textures.

Get the Looks:

Short Cuts:

  1. Apply Matte Waves Texture Lotion all over and let hair air dry.
  2. Spray Swept Up Volume Powder Spray for a lived-in effect.
  3. Seal ends with Supershine Moisturizing Cream and Balm d’Or to add definition.
  4. Place hair over the face.

Texture from the Sea:

  1. Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse without emulsifying the product.
  2. Use fingers to rake the product through and fold hair back and forth to set.
  3. Diffuse hair until white mousse disappears.
  4. Create a bushy effect with a Mason Pearson brush.
  5. Apply Swept Up Volume Powder Spray for a matte look and grungy texture.
  6. For a more fluffy, natural frizz look, add more Swept Up Volume Powder Spray.

Coiled Afro:

  1. Brush out hair to create a rough, unstructured look.
  2. Use flat iron to press ends and give a matte, sun-touched look.
  3. Use Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray to shape.

Ka Wa Key F/W 2019 | Hair by Dan Nguyen using Oribe Hair Care

The Ka Wa Key F/W19 collection, inspired by the film Brokeback Mountain, was a look at life in America with a Japanese twist. Oribe Educator Dan Nguyen drew inspiration from the clothing to create messy, undone texture for all hair types.

Dear Miler F/W 2019 | Hair by Mandee Tauber using Oribe Hair Care

Dear Miler Creative Director, Jimin Kim, and Oribe Educator Mandee Tauber were inspired by downtown effortlessness that still looks put together for the F/W19 show. Mandee emphasized natural hair textures brought out by hand styling.

  3. Push curls forward over forehead to give the illusion of a bowl cut and keep hair slicked down on the sides.
