Kevin Hughes Marries Timeless and Trending in Latest Collection

When Moroccanoil Artistic Director Kevin Hughes lends his skills to a single effort, the results are bound to be nothing less than exquisite. Witness the polished looks with a wearable flair seen exclusively on these pages. “For me, starting off with a great foundation is essential,” says Hughes, who called on the brand’s new five-product Color Complete range with argan oil-infused technologies to prep the models’ color-treated hair, keeping it vibrant and healthy. Hughes stuck to the theme when transitioning to styling. “When creating so many different looks on a model or your client, you must build that foundation into the hair,” he says. “If you’re aiming for sleek, make sure the blowout is on-point so it lasts. If the looks call for volume, make sure your curl or wave set is solid by setting the hair prior to brushing it out—that way it will last all day.”

To create this textured style, Kevin Hughes used a 1-inch iron to curl the model’s fine hair. Next, he sprayed Moroccanoil Dry Texture  Spray throughout strands before separating the lower and upper back sections and creating a French twist. He then pulled the top back up to meet the top of the twist and enhanced the design with a barrette.

After working Moroccanoil Perfect Defense into dry hair, Hughes used a blow-dryer and the Ceramic 35 MM Round Brush to add bend to the ends, enhancing layers and texture. Luminous Hairspray Strong gave the style staying power.

For this nod to Farrah Fawcett, Hughes used Moroccanoil Treatment Light, Root Boost and the Ceramic 25 MM Round Brush to blow-dry the hair before applying Perfect Defense  and using a 1¼-inch curling iron to finish the style.

To create this sleek style, Hughes called on Moroccanoil Treatment, Smoothing Lotion, Perfect Defense and a wrapping technique to blow-dry the hair. He applied Molding Cream for added separation and definition.

After creating a horseshoe-shaped section at the top and clipping it away, Hughes directionally blow-dried strands around the sides and back using Luminous Hairspray Strong before looping them into a small bun. Using the 35 MM Boar Bristle Round Brush, he blow-dried the top hair toward one side to achieve a more asymmetrical look.

To create this faux bob shape featuring undulating waves, Hughes prepped the hair with Volumizing Mousse and Perfect Defense, then blow-dried it. Using Luminous Hairspray Strong on each section, he wrapped the hair in the same direction around a 1¼-inch iron before brushing them out with the Classic Boar Bristle Brush.
