Tips and Tricks for Maintaining a Bombshell Blowout

National Blowout Day may have been last week, but the celebrations don't have to stop there. Whether you're working in the salon or sharing tricks with your clients, Oribe educator Adam Livermore has a few tips for achieving and maintaining a bombshell blowout.

Which products are key for achieving a long-lasting blowout?

AL: Using the right products can take your blowout from beginner to pro in no time. Oribe has a number of products that work with different hair types to achieve a luscious blowout that will last. My go-to product for a traditional blowout is Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray, an ultra-lightweight mist that smooths while speeding dry time. It also repairs split ends, nourishes, softens and strengthens the hair, giving it healthy body and shine. I also love Crème for Style. It’s a one-stop product that eliminates and prevents frizz, provides heat protection, adds volume and helps to add a little bend to the hair. If your client has coarse or curly texture, Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream is a great product to help transform their hair into a sleek, straight blowout.

How can a blowout withstand the heat and humidity in the summer?

AL: Products are key for making a blowout last. On the second day, apply a dime-size amount of Crème for Style to hair and twist up into a bun. Let the bun sit for a while and then shake it out for gorgeous, bouncy waves. If you have to fix any bends or kinks, Mystify Restyling Spray can be applied to the area to smooth into place using a round, boar-bristle brush and hair dryer.

How can you cut down on drying time?

AL: With any blowout it’s important to rough dry the hair until it’s nearly dry before you start the “official” blowout. When the hair is 90 percent dry, section off and use a round, boar-bristle brush for the blowout. Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray works to cut down on drying time as it contains an exclusive silicone complex. I always reach for it if a client is in a rush.

How can you achieve a blowout look without a hair dryer?

AL: Hot rollers give off the look of a blowout without having to bake under a hairdryer. Section dry hair into two-inch sections and roll the hair away from the face. Let the hair set for a voluminous blowout look.
