Eric Lindsey is one of the country’s premier balayage artists. Here he puts his own spin on the ombré trend. After mixing Wella Professionals Freelights with 40-volume developer, he hand-painted random pieces of hair around the face and from the midlengths to the ends. To add a pop of personality, he added lowlights with Instamatic by Color Touch in Smokey Amethyst, one of six diffused finish shades that can stay on the hair from five to 20 minutes depending on the intensity you desire. —Marianne Dougherty
