Goldwell KMS California Academy

In June, Goldwell opened its newest East Coast location, the Goldwell KMS California Academy, in New York City’s trendy Meatpacking District. In addition to paying homage to the rich culture of New York, the 6,500-square-foot space will serve as the East Coast flagship academy and a partner to the original Santa Monica, CA location.

“Our objective is to be the home of inspiration for stylists to learn, grow and excel in their craft and business—making stylists the expert no matter which direction they choose,” says Sandra Humphries, vice president of education, Kao Salon Division USA.

The academy features a multistory classroom space complete with rooftop views, encouraging stylists to look to the city as an ongoing muse. Stylists can choose from custom classes, including Signature Series, a focus on haircolor, and Free Form Hair Painting, led by Goldwell Artistic Master Dimitrios Tsioumas.

Every area of New York City’s Goldwell KMS California Academy offers an opportunity for stylists to learn, like this fully stocked wash station.

“The New York Academy puts the creative energy of the city at the heart of the Goldwell and KMS California educational experience,” says Trevor Attenborough, president and general manager, Kao Salon Division USA. “Students will be encouraged to use the urban landscape that serves as the academy’s new home as a muse to create bold, original work. It’s our commitment to stylists and salon owners to provide inspiration and information to help them become even more successful in their careers. We hope that our guests will be inspired to take both their craft, and their businesses, to the next level.” ✂ —Kristen Heinzinger
