Alicia Keys debuts her new style via her Instagram and Twitter.
Alicia Keys recently took to Twitter and Instagram to debut her new sleek bob styled by her hairdresser Tippi Shorter. According to Shorter, the songstress has been longing for a shorter style for five years, and with an upcoming release for a new project, now seemed like the perfect time. Read on to see just how Keys’ bob was created.
“Alicia wanted something that she could still wear curly but also could translate to edgy as well as sexy,” Shorter says. “We decided on a short, slightly asymmetrical choppy bob.”
To achieve this look, Shorter first took off about six inches as a base length then created texture using a razor. “I prefer to cut curly hair with a razor; with shears, the finished style always tends to be too angled or too round,” Shorter says. “The razor gives me great shape with a fresh feel.”
Next, Shorter colored Keys’ hair to liven up her strands. Shorter used Goldwell 6a and 30vol for base and did a prelight on a halo of highlights and toned with 7na and 10vol.
