Alternative Hair Show Continues to Raise Money For Leukemia Research

event6_page_main Tony Rizzo created the Alternative Hair Show in 1983 in memory of his son Valentino who died of leukemia. Since then, the show has grown to be one of the most prestigious annual hairdressing events and has raised over £7 million towards leukemia research.

This past October, the show was held at The Royal Albert Hall in London and the theme was kaleidoscope, which represented the unique talent of the competing stylists from around the globe. For the first time in 27 years, Alternative Hair presented the International Visionary Award to the stylist who created the best contemporary couture look. Out of the 12 finalists from around the world, Alfie Booth from Andrew Collinge, England was declared the winner.

This year, the event raised £175,000, and will continue to raise much more. To donate or find out about the Alternative Hair Show next year, visit alternativehair.org. — Noelle Rivera
