American Dream

At a recent training event, JCP Salon unveiled its fall/winter trend collection, American Women.

Creativity and inspiration were strong during JCP Salon’s weeklong training event in August. Educators, JCP stylists and media gathered at the JCPenney corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas for a variety of workshops focusing on color, blow-dry and finishing techniques. In addition, field operations leaders learned business-driving techniques they can share with salon leaders.

At the event, JCP Salon revealed its fall/winter trend collection, American Women, which highlights signature blowouts and is exclusively found at JCP Salons. The JCP Salon education team of 55 has begun training its stylists across the country to recreate all four signature looks in the collection, and training will be ongoing as new stylists join JCP Salon. “Our mission this fall is to ensure our 12,000 stylists nationwide are confident in delivering an elevated client experience,” said Nick Stenson, senior artistic creative director at JCP Salon. “With the ever-growing demand for blow-dry services, we want JCP Salon to be the premier salon destination for all services, with a focus this season on the perfect blowout.”

JCP Salon teamed up with vendor partners Wella, Redken and Matrix to collaborate on trend education. Matrix hosted a hands-on color workshop in which stylists used Matrix ColorInsider—an ammonia-free, permanent haircolor that provides high-definition color results—on live models.

That evening, Wella, Redken and Matrix each put a spin on the American Women theme in a fashion show that featured creative hair looks that interpreted female style from cities across the U.S. including Chicago, New York, New Orleans and San Francisco.

“The week was a huge success, and we look forward to the great things our teams can do,” said Amiee Thomas, vice president of JCP Salon.
