Andis Company Sponsors Stylist at Walk-In Closet Fashion Week NYC

There couldn’t be a more appropriately named venue for the Andis Company to showcase their handheld styling tools than the Flatiron Hotel in NYC. Andis sponsored T. Cooper, of Metro Look, and her styling team, who arrived armed and ready to create beautiful updos for the fall 2013 Walk-In Closet fashion show. Danelle Izzajaye Dungca of One10 Collection,  who was one of the designers at the event, was unveiling her fall creations. “Danelle wanted the hair up to show off her designs,” says Cooper. “I decided to do realistic wearable hair that provided volume on top and texture in the back. It’s universally flattering.”

Cooper decided to create a romantic basket weave updo. To achieve the look, first hair was sprayed and teased about two inches from the roots. After teasing, hair was combed back and held in a ponytail at the nape, but with side sections of the hair left out. The left out pieces were then crisscrossed two or three times on each side and pinned, creating a basket weave look. The hair in the ponytail was curled using the 1” Andis Titanium Curling Iron or rib curled using the Andis Curved Edge Titanium Flat Iron. To complete the look, the stylists created push curls, by pushing hair towards the scalp with fingers, which created a dramatic image for the runway.
