In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the launch of its popular Control Force Hair Spray, Aveda has dubbed today, July, 12, 2011, Sky High Hair Day. To mark the occasion, the company is hosting a free Livestream broadcast featuring Aveda North America Artistic Team members Ricardo Dinis and Allen Ruiz at 4pm EST. Dinis and Ruiz will create four distinct looks with Control Force and talk trends with a panel or beauty editors including American Salon Senior Editor Lori Morris (a.k.a. me!). Following the event, Aveda will kick off a six-week photo contest on its Facebook page. Aveda guests, network stylists and Aveda Institute students can enter the contest by submitting photos of their "Sky High Hairstyles." The entries will be narrowed down by a panel of judges in August, then Aveda Facebook "fans" will vote on the finalists to choose the winners, who will be announced in September.
