Aveda Recognizes Earth Day with a 24-Hour Global Cut-A-Thon

On April 22, 2013, which marks the annual global tradition of Earth Day, Aveda Salons and Institutes will host a 24-hour global hair-cut-a-thon to raise money for clean water projects. Aveda hairstylists from around the world will volunteer their expertise, spending the day cutting and snipping hair at record speeds  in a company-wide fundraiser to help support the environment. The goal is to set a Guinness World Records title for raising the most  money for a charity through haircuts in a 24-hour period. To help achieve this goal, guests will be asked to make a donation, in exchange they will each receive a fabulous new look. This year, the  cut-a-thon will start off in Sydney, making its journey across the globe to North America.

In 2012, the cut-a-thon proceeds helped to support Aveda Earth Month, a month long company effort that raised more than $4.6 million. The funds helped at least 40 clean water organizations that work to preserve and protect clean water-  from water resource protection education in Taiwan, to advocacy for the ecosystem health and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

In Addition, limited edition Aveda Light the Way Candles will be available for purchase while supplies last. 100 percent of the purchase price will be donated to Global Greengrants Fund, a non-profit that channels high-impact grants to grassroots groups working to solve environmental issues.
