Aveda Styles Hair for the Stella McCartney 2014 Resort Collection

Aveda’s Global Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders worked her magic backstage for the debut of Stella McCartney's Resort 2014 collection. On a rainy and humid night in New York City, Antoinette created soft, natural and effortless textures to compliment the Stella McCartney designs. The playful, yet wearable creations were filled with an array of lemon and pink shades and faux python prints.

“It is often harder to create a natural, undone look that holds—especially given the humid and rainy weather tonight,” said Beenders. “Stella was looking for an easy, effortless style that needed to withstand the steady rainfall throughout the presentation held outside in a garden under tents. All models arrived straight from the rainy streets of New York City with a variety of hair conditions and with a few high performance Aveda products, good technique and simple styling, we were able to create a seemingly effortless look for all of them. It’s all about working with the environment.”

How to get the look:

Step 1. Prep hair with Pure Abundance Style Prep for weightless volume.

Step 2. Section hair starting from the back and blow-dry product into hair with a large round brush, then create a loose center part.

Step 3. Apply Air Control Hair Spray to small sections of hair for hold and wrap loosely and quickly around a large barrel curling iron.

Step 4. Let the curl fall out and gently tug from the end to create looser, undefined curl. Style with fingers.

Step 5. Finish with a misting of Air Control Hair Spray for a soft, transparent hold.
